Introduction: Why This Matters
Have you ever felt like you didn’t have enough—enough time, enough resources, or enough strength? In moments like that, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but today’s lesson shows us that God can do a lot with just a little.
Jesus performed an incredible miracle by feeding over 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. This story teaches us that God provides in ways we don’t expect and that He can use what we have to bless others.
1. Bible Reading: John 6:5-11
“When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?’ He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. Philip answered him, ‘It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!’ Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, ‘Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?’ Jesus said, ‘Have the people sit down.’ There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.”
Explanation For Teenagers
The disciples saw a problem—too many people and not enough food—but Jesus saw an opportunity to show God’s power.
A young boy gave what little he had, and Jesus used it to perform an incredible miracle.
God can take what seems small and insignificant and use it for something big.
Youth Group Discussion Questions

- How does this story show us that God provides, even when it seems impossible?
- What are some ways we can offer what we have to God, even if it seems small?
2. Bible Reading: Philippians 4:19
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
Explanation For Teenagers
God doesn’t just meet our physical needs—He provides for us spiritually, emotionally, and in every area of life.
Just like Jesus took a small lunch and made it enough for thousands, God can take our weaknesses and turn them into strengths.
When we trust Him, we learn that He is more than enough for whatever we face.

- What are some ways God has provided for you in the past?
- How can we use what we have to bless others, just like the boy in the story?
