Introduction: Why This Matters
Have you ever felt stuck in a tough situation with no way out? It’s easy to feel discouraged, but what if instead of complaining, you chose to praise God? That’s exactly what Paul and Silas did when they were thrown into prison for preaching the gospel.
Today, we’ll learn how worshiping God in hard times can lead to miracles and how our faith can impact those around us.
1. Bible Reading: Acts 16:25-26
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.”
Explanation For Teenagers
Paul and Silas were unfairly beaten and imprisoned, yet instead of complaining, they worshiped God.
Their praise led to a miracle—an earthquake that set them free!
This shows us that worship isn’t just for good times—it’s also for when we feel trapped or discouraged.

2. Bible Reading: Acts 16:27-34
“The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, ‘Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!’ The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.’ Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.”
Explanation For Teenagers
Because Paul and Silas trusted God, not only were they set free, but they also helped lead the jailer and his family to faith in Jesus.
Sometimes, our faith in hard times can inspire others to seek God.
God can use our struggles to bring hope to others if we continue to trust Him.
