Introduction: Why This Matters
Judges 6 begins the story of Gideon, a young man who felt unqualified to do anything big for God. But when the Israelites were oppressed by the Midianites, God chose Gideon to lead a rescue mission. This story shows that God doesn’t call the confident—He calls the willing.
1. Bible Reading: Judges 6:11–16
“When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’ ‘Pardon me, my lord,’ Gideon replied, ‘but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.’ The Lord answered, ‘I will be with you.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
Gideon didn’t believe in himself—but God did.
God called him a “mighty warrior” before he ever did anything brave. That’s how God sees us: not for who we are, but for who we can become in Him.
When God is with us, our weakness becomes strength.

2. Bible Reading: Judges 6:25–27
“That same night the Lord said to him, ‘Tear down your father’s altar to Baal… and build a proper kind of altar to the Lord.’ So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the Lord told him. But because he was afraid… he did it at night.”
Explanation For Teenagers
Gideon obeyed—even when he was scared. Courage doesn’t mean never being afraid—it means doing the right thing despite the fear.
God often gives us a small step of obedience before the big mission begins.
When we act in faith, even in small ways, God can do big things through us.

- Students take turns being blindfolded and guided by voice through a short obstacle path.
