Scriptures: Acts 5:27–35; Psalm 150; Revelation 1:4–8; John 20:19–31
Introduction: Why This Matters
On the second Sunday of Easter, we remember that the resurrection wasn’t just a moment—it was the start of a bold mission. From the doubt of Thomas to the bold preaching of Peter, we see the journey from fear to faith. This lesson encourages students to face their doubts honestly and step into the boldness of being a witness for Jesus.
1. Bible Reading: John 20:24–29
“Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands… Stop doubting and believe.’ Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
Thomas had doubts—and Jesus didn’t shame him for it. Instead, He met Thomas where he was and gave him what he needed to believe.
Doubt isn’t the opposite of faith—it can be the doorway into deeper trust when we bring it to Jesus.
Youth Group Discussion Questions
- What do you relate to in Thomas’s story?
- How does Jesus respond to honest doubt?
- What’s a question you have about faith right now?
2. Bible Reading: Acts 5:27–32
“Peter and the other apostles replied: ‘We must obey God rather than human beings! The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead… We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
Peter went from being afraid to being bold. Why? Because he had seen the risen Jesus.
Being a witness doesn’t mean having all the answers—it means sharing what Jesus has done in your life.
Youth Group Discussion Questions
- What gave Peter and the others courage?
- How can we be bold in our faith without being pushy?
- Who do you know who needs to hear about Jesus?
Youth Group Game: “Doubt or Believe”
What You’ll Need:

How to Play:
- Read each statement. Have students move to different sides of the room based on if they believe it, doubt it, or are unsure.
- Discuss each one, pointing back to Scripture and grace-filled truth.
Debrief
- What’s something you’ve wrestled with in your faith?
- How can we help each other grow in belief even with questions?
Closing Prayer
Jesus, thank You for being patient with our doubts and strong in our weakness. Help us to believe and to share Your love with courage and kindness. Make us bold witnesses like Peter and honest seekers like Thomas. In Your name, Amen.
