Introduction: Why This Matters
In the wake of Easter, we see how the resurrection changed lives—especially for people like Saul and Peter. Both were broken, doubting, or even opposing Jesus. But through grace, they were forgiven, restored, and called into bold purpose. This week we focus on how God meets us where we are to call us into something greater.
1. Bible Reading: Acts 9:1–6
“As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed… He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?’… ‘Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
Saul wasn’t looking for Jesus—he was fighting Him. But Jesus loved him enough to interrupt his life and give him a whole new direction.
God can use anyone, no matter how far they seem. Sometimes the biggest changes come through unexpected moments.
Youth Group Discussion Questions
- What surprises you about Saul’s conversion?
- Why do you think Jesus chose to confront Saul so directly?
- How might God be trying to get your attention right now?
2. Bible Reading: John 21:15–19
“Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Do you love me?’… ‘Feed my sheep… Follow me.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
Peter had denied Jesus three times—but here, Jesus gives him three chances to affirm his love.
This is forgiveness in action: not just words, but a call back into purpose.
Jesus doesn’t cancel people—He restores them when they return to Him.
Youth Group Discussion Questions
- Why do you think Jesus asked Peter the same question three times?
- What does it mean to be restored by Jesus?
- Where in your life do you need a fresh start or healing?
Youth Group Game: “Lost to Leader”
What You’ll Need:
- Cards describing tough situations and redemptive turns (e.g., failure to second chance)
How to Play:
- Split into pairs. One acts out the “lost” situation, the other offers a “Jesus response” that leads to healing or purpose.
- Discuss what it’s like to be given a second chance, and how we can offer that to others.
Debrief
- What’s one way you’ve experienced a second chance?
- Why is forgiveness and restoration such a powerful part of faith?
- What’s one way you can help restore or encourage someone this week?
Closing Prayer
Jesus, thank You for calling us even when we don’t feel worthy. Forgive us where we’ve fallen short, and restore us like You did for Peter and Saul. Help us to follow You with boldness, humility, and purpose. In Your name, Amen.
