Sunday School Lesson: Wholehearted Faith – Caleb’s Confidence Joshua 14

Print Friendly and PDF

Introduction: Why This Matters

Joshua 14 tells the story of Caleb—an old man with young faith. Even after 40 years of waiting, he never gave up on God’s promise. His story reminds us what it looks like to follow God fully and to trust Him, no matter how long it takes or how hard it gets.

1. Bible Reading: Joshua 14:6–12

“Then the people of Judah came to Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb… said, ‘I was forty years old when Moses… sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land… I wholly followed the Lord my God’… ‘Now then, give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day.'”

Explanation For Teenagers

Caleb wasn’t just faithful when he was young—he kept believing even in old age.

He didn’t forget God’s promises, and he didn’t back down from a challenge.

Wholehearted faith means trusting God fully, even when it’s hard or slow.

Youth Group Discussion Questions

  • What stands out to you about Caleb’s attitude after 40+ years?
  • How is Caleb’s story different from people who gave up?
  • What’s something you’re trusting God for that hasn’t happened yet?

2. Bible Reading: Joshua 14:13–15

“Then Joshua blessed Caleb… and he gave him Hebron for an inheritance… because he wholly followed the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Explanation For Teenagers

Caleb got what was promised—not because he was perfect, but because he stayed committed.

God rewards faith that holds on, even when it’s tested.

We live in a world that quits fast—but God honors faith that endures.
