Introduction: Why This Matters
The Ten Commandments are more than a list of rules—they’re a reflection of God’s heart and His desire for us to live in freedom, respect, and love. In Exodus 20, God speaks directly to His people, giving them guidance not to restrict them, but to protect and bless them.
This lesson invites teens to see the commandments not as a burden, but as a blueprint for healthy relationships—with God and each other.
1. Bible Reading: Exodus 20:1–11
“And God spoke all these words: ‘I am the Lord your God… You shall have no other gods before me… Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy… For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth… but he rested on the seventh day.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
The first half of the commandments focus on our relationship with God—who He is and how we honor Him.
They show us that loving God means putting Him first, respecting His name, and setting aside time to be with Him.
When we get this foundation right, everything else in life lines up better.

2. Bible Reading: Exodus 20:12–17
