Sunday School Lesson: The Armor of God – Standing Strong in Faith Ephesians 6:10-18

Print Friendly and PDF

Introduction: Why This Matters

Life can feel like a battle sometimes. We face temptations, doubts, and struggles that challenge our faith. But the good news is that God has given us spiritual armor to stand strong against anything that comes our way.

Today, we’ll explore the Armor of God and learn how to use it in our daily lives to stay strong in our faith.

1. Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:10-13

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Explanation For Teenagers

Paul reminds us that life’s struggles aren’t just physical—they’re also spiritual. We need God’s strength to stand firm.

Putting on the Armor of God means using His truth, righteousness, faith, and more to defend ourselves against temptation and fear.

God doesn’t expect us to fight battles alone—He gives us everything we need to stand strong in faith.

Youth Group Discussion Questions

  • What do you think it means to be “strong in the Lord”?
  • Why do we need spiritual armor?
  • How can we rely on God instead of trying to fight battles on our own?

2. Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:14-18

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”

Explanation For Teenagers

Each piece of armor represents something important for our faith:

  • Belt of Truth – Knowing God’s truth helps us stand against lies.
  • Breastplate of Righteousness – Living in God’s way protects our hearts.
  • Gospel of Peace – Sharing God’s message helps us stand firm.
  • Shield of Faith – Faith blocks the enemy’s attacks, like fear and doubt.
  • Helmet of Salvation – Remembering Jesus saves us helps us stay focused.
  • Sword of the Spirit – God’s Word is our weapon to fight against lies and temptation.
