Introduction: Why This Matters
Have you ever faced a challenge that felt way too big for you to handle? Maybe it was a tough situation, a personal struggle, or something that seemed impossible to overcome. David, a young shepherd boy, faced one of the biggest challenges ever—going up against a giant warrior named Goliath.
Today, we’ll explore how David’s faith in God helped him defeat Goliath and how we can trust God to help us overcome the “giants” in our own lives.
1. Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 17:45-47
“David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head… All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
David didn’t rely on his own strength—he trusted in God’s power.
Goliath looked impossible to defeat, but David knew that no challenge is bigger than God.
When we face difficulties, we can choose faith over fear, just like David did.

2. Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 17:48-50
“As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone.”
Explanation For Teenagers
David didn’t hesitate—he ran straight toward the battle with full confidence in God.
God used something small (a sling and a stone) to bring a big victory.
Sometimes, God calls us to take a step of faith, even when the challenge seems too big.
