Hey everyone! Today, we’re diving into a powerful passage from the Book of Jeremiah. We’ll be exploring Jeremiah 23:1-6, which speaks about the importance of good leadership and God’s promise of a righteous future. This is super relevant for us as teenagers because it teaches us about trust, integrity, and hope—all crucial parts of growing our faith in today’s world.
Main Teaching
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 23:1-2
“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord.
Explanation
- Shepherds and Sheep: In biblical times, leaders were often compared to shepherds and the people to sheep. Good shepherds take care of their sheep, guiding them and protecting them.
- Bad Leadership: Jeremiah is calling out bad leaders who have neglected their responsibilities, leading people astray.
- God’s Judgment: God promises that He will hold these leaders accountable for their actions.

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 23:3-4

I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord.
Explanation
- God’s Promise: Even though people have been scattered, God promises to gather them back.
- New Shepherds: God will appoint new leaders who will care for the people properly.
