As teenagers, it is easy to get lost in the world’s expectations of who we should be and what we should achieve. But as children of God, our identity is rooted in Him. Understanding our value and purpose as a child of God is crucial to building self-worth and confidence in our faith.
Youth Group Game: Bible-Based Scavenger Hunt
Divide the group into teams of 3-4 people. Give each team a list of Bible verses that relate to our identity in Christ. Each team must find the verses in their own Bible and make sure they have all of them before bringing the list to the leader. The first team to correctly find all the verses wins.
Some recommended verses are:
- John 1:12
- Romans 8:15-17
- 1 John 3:1
- Colossians 2:9-10
This game will encourage the teens to actively engage with their Bibles and reinforce the concept of their identity in Christ.
Bible Reading 1: Psalm 139:13-14
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Explanation
God created each one of us with a specific purpose in mind. He designed us to be unique, with different talents, personalities, and passions. We are not meant to compare ourselves to others because we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God.

Bible Reading 2: Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Explanation
As believers in Christ, we are a new creation. God has a specific plan for each of our lives, and it is our job to walk in His will and fulfill that plan. We are not meant to live aimlessly or without direction. Recognizing that we are God’s masterpiece means understanding that our value comes from Him alone.

- What are some ways that you can actively seek out God’s will for your life?

Dear God, Thank you for creating us with a purpose and a plan. Help us to recognize our value as children of God and to trust in You for our direction and purpose. Guide us as we seek to fulfill the calling and mission You have for our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
