Sunday School Lesson: Trust in the Storm – Faith Over Fear Mark 6

Print Friendly and PDF

Introduction: Why This Matters

Mark 6 shows how Jesus challenges His disciples to trust Him, even when things seem impossible. From rejection in His hometown to miraculously feeding thousands and walking on water, this chapter reminds us that Jesus is always near—even when life feels out of control.

1. Bible Reading: Mark 6:30–44

“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves… They all ate and were satisfied.”

Explanation For Teenagers

The disciples saw a crowd and thought, “We don’t have enough.”

Jesus saw an opportunity to show God’s power through small offerings.

God can multiply whatever we give Him—when we trust Him with it.

Youth Group Discussion Questions

  • What’s something small you’ve seen God use for good?
  • Why do we sometimes forget that God can provide?
  • What can you offer God this week, even if it feels like “not enough”?

2. Bible Reading: Mark 6:45–51

“Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake… Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed.”

Explanation For Teenagers

The disciples were terrified in the storm—but Jesus came walking right through it.

He didn’t just calm the waves—He climbed into their boat.

God doesn’t promise we’ll avoid storms—but He promises He’ll be with us through them.
