Introduction: Why This Story Matters
Have you ever felt like you were sinking in life? Maybe it’s stress from school, drama with friends, or feeling like you’re not good enough. Sometimes, life’s challenges feel like waves crashing over us.
The story of Peter walking on water shows us that when we focus on Jesus, we can do incredible things—even in the middle of life’s storms. Today, we’ll learn what it means to step out in faith, trust God, and keep our eyes on Him no matter what’s going on around us.
1. Bible Reading: Matthew 14:28-29
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.
Explanation For Teenagers
Peter did something no one else in history ever did—he walked on water. But it wasn’t because he was special. It was because he trusted Jesus enough to step out of the boat.
This story isn’t just about miracles; it’s about faith. Jesus called Peter to do something impossible, and as long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he succeeded.
God may call you to do scary or impossible things, but when you trust Him and take that first step, amazing things can happen.

2. Bible Reading: Matthew 14:30
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Explanation For Teenagers
Peter started sinking the moment he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the storm. Fear took over, and his faith wavered.
We can all relate to this. When life gets tough, it’s easy to focus on our problems instead of trusting God. But even when Peter messed up, Jesus didn’t let him drown—He immediately reached out to save him.
God doesn’t expect us to have perfect faith. He just asks us to trust Him and call out to Him when we’re struggling.

Explanation For Teenagers
Even though Peter doubted, Jesus didn’t give up on him. Instead, He pulled him back up and calmed the storm. This shows us that God’s love isn’t based on how perfect our faith is—He’s always there to help us.
The disciples’ reaction was to worship Jesus. They realized that He wasn’t just a teacher or a leader—He was the Son of God. When we see God working in our lives, our response should be the same: worship and gratitude.
