Introduction: Why This Matters
In 2 Samuel 9, King David chooses to show kindness to Mephibosheth, the disabled son of his former enemy’s family. Instead of forgetting or ignoring him, David restores him and invites him to his table. This story reveals God’s heart for mercy, restoration, and grace.
1. Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 9:1–7
“‘Don’t be afraid,’ David said to him, ‘for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land… and you will always eat at my table.'”
Explanation For Teenagers
David could’ve seen Mephibosheth as a threat or ignored him completely. But instead, he chose kindness.
This kind of grace reflects how God treats us—welcoming us, even when we feel broken or left out.
We’re called to be kind not because people earn it, but because God is kind to us.
