Hey incredible teens! Welcome to another Sunday School session filled with adventure and discovery. Today, we’re delving into Acts 1:6-14, a passage that captures the moment just before Jesus ascended to heaven. As teenagers, you’re often at crossroads, facing uncertainties about the future, friendships, and your identity. This story is a powerful reminder that even in the midst of unknowns, we can trust in God’s plan for our lives.

Bible Reading: Acts 1:6-14 (NIV)

  1. So when they met together, they asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
  2. He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.
  3. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
  4. After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
  5. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.
  6. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
  7. Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.
  8. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.
  9. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

  1. Handling the Unknown: How do you feel when faced with uncertainties about the future? How can the disciples’ experience encourage you in those moments?
  2. Trusting God’s Timing: Why is it challenging to trust God’s timing in our lives? How can the promise of the Holy Spirit’s power bring comfort and confidence?
  3. Being Witnesses: In what ways can you be a witness for Jesus in your school, neighborhood, or among your friends?
  4. Community and Prayer: The disciples returned to Jerusalem and joined together in constant prayer. Why is community and prayer important for facing uncertainties in our lives?
