Sunday School Lesson: The Story of Noah – Trusting God’s Plan Genesis 6:13-22

Print Friendly and PDF

Introduction: Why This Matters

Have you ever been asked to do something that seemed impossible or didn’t make sense at the time? That’s exactly what happened to Noah when God told him to build an ark. Even though it had never rained before, Noah chose to trust God’s plan.

Today, we’ll explore how Noah’s faith teaches us to trust God, even when His plans don’t make sense to us.

1. Bible Reading: Genesis 6:13-22

“So God said to Noah, ‘I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out… Noah did everything just as God commanded him.'”

Explanation For Teenagers

Noah had never seen rain, yet he obeyed God and built the ark.

Trusting God doesn’t always mean understanding everything—it means believing He has a greater plan.

Even when people mocked Noah, he remained faithful. Faith requires obedience even when others don’t believe.

Youth Group Discussion Questions

  • Have you ever had to trust God in a situation that didn’t make sense at the time?
  • What do you think gave Noah the confidence to obey God?
  • How can we show trust in God in our daily lives?

2. Bible Reading: Hebrews 11:7

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.”

Explanation For Teenagers

Noah’s faith wasn’t just belief—it was action. He put his faith into practice by obeying God.

Faith means trusting God even when we can’t see the full picture.

When we follow God, we may not always understand why, but we can trust that He is leading us for our good.
