Sunday School Lesson: No Condemnation, New Life in the Spirit – Romans 8:1-39

Print Friendly and PDF

Introduction: Why This Matters for Teens

Teenagers live under constant pressure—grades, social media, expectations, comparison, and fear of failure. Many teens also carry guilt over past mistakes or feel like they’re never “good enough” for God. Romans 8 is one of the most hope-filled chapters in the entire Bible. It reminds teens that following Jesus is not about living under shame, but walking in freedom, confidence, and the power of the Holy Spirit. This lesson helps students understand who they are in Christ and how God’s Spirit helps them live differently.

What I’ve Learned About a New Life in the Spirit

We often feel so much guilt and shame for our past mistakes, and when you are a teenager, this is magnified because you are so worried about how you look to others. We do not need to be ashamed, though, if we have repented and been forggiven then we have a new life in the Spirit, and we should be filled with joy because of that. – Micah K
